Look for full-standing height throughout — it makes a real difference on longer trips. Sewn-in groundsheets keep out insects and damp. Check the hydrostatic head rating too; anything above 3000mm handles heavy British rain well.

Steel or fibreglass poles affect weight and setup time. Many tents pack down into a wheeled carry bag — worth considering if you walk far from the car.
